MIA: Been Busy
I know I’ve been MIA for a few weeks, but I was in the Freecycle/organization mode and just got caught up getting rid of things and balancing everyday things. Sorry about that, and I am back for the rest of December. Especially since December is one of those times we realize we might have storage and organizational problems. (holiday decorations, etc.)
Using freecycle, I eliminated a small corner of our storage in the basement. I wish you could have seen how much I gave away. Have you used freecycle? I was able to get rid of: 6 boxes/containers of everything/anything that has to do with Barbie, five boxes of books (toddler, preschool, chapter - school-age, teen and adult), a dresser, a big chair, a Christmas tree, a box of Christmas decorations, four bags of children’s clothing and one box of polly pocket stuff. Seems like so much stuff, but it really only made a mini-dent in the big schemed of our basement storage area.
We still have a lot more to go, and I really think I have to wait until Spring because it is way too cold for people to come out and grab stuff off my driveway. LOL
In the Spring, I will probably be Freecycling for three weeks straight. I try to do one or two items at a time until they are picked up, because I have had people walk off with more than what they grabbed from me. I do know that one woman in particular seemed so grateful to get the toys I had given her. She had a big family (like us) and was so overwhelmed by the amount of stuff. She sent me hugs over the phone and hugs in cyberspace. It was very sweet. I have met some cool people through freecycle, and interestingly - I have actually known people who have come grabbed stuff from me. Funny!
If you’ve never used Freecycle - see the previous post to get more information. Watch the rest of the month. There is a daily post scheduled each day and some days there will be two! Yay!
